The best tradie on the street doesn't get the most work. The easiest one to find does.
Electricians, plumbers, builders, landscapers, painters, tilers, roofers, cleaners, and air conditioning, solar and battery installers: found for the jobs you want, and answered when you can't pick up.

Someone who's never worked the area sits above you, because they wrote a page about it. Chad Scales writes the page for the suburb you're actually in, and the listing behind it.
Two searches. Two different moments.
- Still working out what's wrongwhy do my lights keep trippingA page that answers it
- Decision madeswitchboard upgrade berwickAn ad for that one job
- Where everyone bidselectrician near meEvery trade in the suburb
One job, both channels: the page catches them while they're researching, the ad once they've decided. Which comes first?
The work goes to whoever is easiest to find and quickest to answer.
What tradies ask first
How do tradies get more work without paying for ads?
Two ways. Turn up for the jobs people already search for in your suburbs, which takes months and then keeps working. And stop losing the enquiries you already get, which is quicker to fix.
Why doesn't my business turn up when someone searches my trade and suburb?
Usually because there's no page about that job in that suburb. Google can't rank a list of services. It ranks a page that answers what one customer is asking.
I miss calls all day on the tools. What actually helps?
A text back from your own number when a call rings out, so the caller hears from you instead of ringing the next tradie. That's Relay: no app, no new number, set up in 48 hours. First, work out what missed calls cost you.
Do I need a website if my work comes from word of mouth?
Yes. The person your best customer referred will still search your name before ringing, and what they find decides whether they ring. A website keeps a warm referral from going cold.
Do you work with my trade?
Electricians, plumbers, builders, landscapers, painters, tilers, roofers, cleaners, and air conditioning, solar and battery installers. If the work reaches you by phone or an enquiry form, the answer is yes.
How long does it take to get found?
Months, not weeks. Nobody can honestly promise a ranking, or a date for one.
Why do they pick somebody else? Usually, they were easier to find.
